I had the privilege to teach Nicole her very first 26 & 2 class almost one year ago! What I remember most about her was how clam and serene she was during class even when she was struggling with the postures and the heat. She didn’t give up and in fact came to class 6 times in her first week! Nicole’s tranquil nature attracts others and her presence in and out of the hot room is a gift to our community. Her smile lights up the room and her determination to not give up is an inspiration to us all. She rocks her burpees! Be sure and say hi to Nicole next time you see her. And Nicole, we can talk quilting as well! It’s been a passion of mine for years!

Tell us a little bit about yourself
I have been married for 32 years to my Husband Ken, I live in Lowell and have 4 children, 2 boys, 2 girls ages 18-40. I have 2 grandchildren Ian 5 and Rory 3 and a silky terrier named Penny. I have worked for over 25 years at Lowell General Hospital and currently work at the LGH Cancer Center as an RMA in the GYN Women’s wellness Center.
When did you start practicing hot yoga?
One year ago, this month!

What brought you to the THYF studio?
My oldest daughter has RA and we thought the Yoga and heat would be helpful to her. I went with her for support and ended up loving it myself.

What do you remember about your first class?
I remember that it was very Hot and that I felt amazing afterwards and wanted to come back.

How often do you practice?
I try to practice every day and sometimes end up staying for a double 😊

What physical benefits and changes have you seen from your practice?
I feel much physically stronger and I have almost no more pain in my lower back. I sleep better and have more energy during the day.

Has doing this practice affected your life outside the hot room?
I feel like I have better mental clarity and focus and am calmer.

What has surprised you about your practice?
I am surprised at how intense and challenging it can be but that is what I love about it.

What do you like about the other classes we offer, Hot Pilates, Buti, e84 Intermediate?
I like the variety and the different ways it strengthens me. The Pilates and Buti class have great music and helps to strengthen my 26 & 2 class and the e84 class gives me an opportunity to try different postures. I love the New Yin class and the 26 plus two. I also enjoy practicing with everyone and have made some great friendships.

What benefits do you see from incorporating them into your routine?
Each class works different part of my body that help me in my 26 & 2 practice.

What is one tip you would give to a new student at THYF?
To come as often as you can, and you will feel so much better.

Have you taken Inferno Hot Pilates classes?
YES! I love the Hot Pilates classes, they’re challenging and have help improve my strength. I often do the Hot Pilates then Hot Yoga! I love the feeling of accomplishment when I complete both classes!

What other activities do you enjoy when you’re not in the hot room?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Taking walks, bike riding, reading and quilting, I love learning more about alternative healthier lifestyles and try to incorporate them into my life along with doing Yoga.

Is there anything you’d like to add?
I love coming to the THYF. I love all the teachers and how they bring their own unique style of teaching to the classroom. I call this my “Happy place” and I don’t look at it as your typical ‘I have to go work out’ I genuinely look forward to coming here every day.
